This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides learners with the knowledge and skills needed to work and volunteer in a non-emergency patient transport ambulance environment.
This qualification is for people who volunteer, work, or aspire to work in, the non-emergency ambulance environment providing safe and appropriate transport for patients between medical facilities and/or the patients’ home or place of residence.
Learners will complete the training required to operate in a non-emergency patient transport ambulance environment whilst being taught about the role and responsibilities of non-emergency patient transport and first aid (including illness and injuries).
The qualification also covers moving and handling patients in the patient transport environment, vehicle and equipment familiarisation and safeguarding adults and children.
They will learn how to support patients with dementia, mental ill health, learning disabilities and patients who require end-of-life care.
