Our Airport Response Driver Training course also known as Emergency Fire Appliance Driver (EFAD) is written in line with Section 19 of the Road Safety Act 2006 and the High-Speed Driver Competency and Training Code of Practice (HSDT) instructed by qualified ex-aviation fire service driving instructors with many years operational experience. This intensive training programme will provide the necessary skills for drivers required to respond to incidents under emergency response conditions both air-side and on the public highway. Our experienced driving instructors are fully conversant with the handling characteristics of centre steer appliances and having gained years of experience in the aviation sector driving these types of vehicles they understand the pressures firefighters face when responding to incidents within tight time frames. The training we offer will teach students to make effective progress whilst ensuring the safety of crew members within the vehicle and of the general public. Because of the specialist type of vehicles being operated at most aerodromes, we put a lot of emphasis on vehicle roll over management and control (Anti-Rollover). After the completion of our course, the candidate will be more aware of the vehicle handling characteristics, its limitations and the forces which contribute to a rollover situation thus reducing the likelihood of serious injury and loss.
