This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides learners with the skills and knowledge needed to safely administer medical oxygen in an emergency.
The Level 3 Award in Administering Emergency Oxygen has been specifically designed for those who have a responsibility for the treatment and/or management of casualties who need the administration of emergency medical oxygen. This qualification is suitable for first aiders operating in a high-risk environment, community first responders, cabin/film crew, fire, police and other emergency services personnel.
While the achievement of this qualification confirms learners have met both the theoretical and practical requirements, this does not imply a ‘license to practice’ – the scope of practice will be determined by the organisation responsible for oxygen provision. This qualification does not allow a learner to obtain, store or administer oxygen without clinical governance.
Successful learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed for the safe, prompt and effective use of administering oxygen in an emergency. Topics covered include: clinical need for oxygen therapy, oxygen delivery devices and administering emergency oxygen.
